Before you make a decision about liposuction as a body contouring tool, you should research what happens during the whole process. At Blair Plastic Surgery, we want to make sure you fully understand what happens during every step so that you are prepared well in advance, comfortable with the process, and ready to do what is necessary to minimize your risks and get the results you desire.

To better grasp the risks, benefits, and steps involved with liposuction, please contact Blair Plastic Surgery today to schedule your confidential initial consultation.

Before Liposuction Surgery

In order to ensure that you are moving forward with realistic expectations, Pennsylvania plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Louton will go over every detail of your surgery day with you during your liposuction consultation. You will undergo a thorough physical examination to be sure you are a good candidate.

Dr. Louton and his staff members will discuss your goals and let you know how liposuction can help you meet them. You will have the opportunity to review several before and after liposuction photos and talk to the surgeon about your projected results. Dr. Louton will discuss the risk factors involved and let you know what you need to do to have a highly successful liposuction experience.

Your Liposuction Procedure Day

During your surgery day, you will arrive with a friend or family member who can escort you home afterwards. Dr. Louton and the staff will go over the steps again clearly and check to make sure you know what to expect. You will also be reminded of the healing process and what you can do to encourage a successful and quick recovery.

During the procedure, Dr. Louton will make small incisions in the treatment area and then remove select fat cells using either ultrasonic or tumescent liposuction. The incisions are sutured and bandaged, and you are given literature to help you with the follow-up care.

After Liposuction Surgery

Following surgery, there are a number of things you should do to maximize your healing time and get back to your regular routines in a timely manner. You will return to our office for a suture-removal and progress check in about one week. Learn more by reading our liposuction follow-up care page.
