Blair Plastic Surgery, The Offices of Dr. Robert Louton

Serving Hollidaysburg, State College, Johnstown, DuBois, and Nearby Pennsylvania

Would I make a good candidate for the tummy tuck procedure?

While we can give out some of the basic qualifications over the phone, it is best to come into our office for a thorough physical evaluation and discussion of your body contouring goals. Generally, you should be at least 18 years of age and fall within a normal weight range.

The majority of patients who come to us seeking an improvement in the stomach area are good candidates for tummy tuck surgery. However, there are certain preexisting health conditions that may prevent certain people from being approved. At your initial consultation, Pennsylvania plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Louton will carefully review your medical history to determine whether or not this procedure is right for you.

What kind of results can I expect from the tummy tuck?

The results you achieve after your tummy tuck will depend on the condition of your abdominal area, your age, weight, and other factors. Dr. Louton cannot guarantee you an exact appearance after surgery, but he can show you a variety of before-and-after tummy tuck photos to give you an idea of what to expect.

Diane Louton was wonderful in performing laser hair removal on my daughter. My daughter has a genetic syndrome (mild form of Cornelia de Lange syndrome). One expression of the gene is an abundance of dark hair on her body. My daughter was apprehensive about the pain, but Ms. Louton is so upbeat and calming, that the procedure is a breeze. As I write this review, I can hear Ms. Louton talking to my daughter and making her laugh during this first procedure (her legs). And apparently this new method of treatment involves little to no pain. I highly recommend Blair Plastic Surgery, and Diane Louton especially.

How long will my abdominoplasty results last?

Tummy tuck results can last many years, provided you take steps to keep your fitness level up and commit to healthy eating. A tummy tuck will not prevent weight gain or loss of muscle mass due to inactivity. Dr. Louton and his skilled tummy tuck staff will help you understand the process and create a maintenance plan for long-term success.

Are there risks I should know about before deciding to have a tummy tuck?

The tummy tuck procedure is a surgery that involves incisions and manipulation of the abdominal tissue; therefore, there are a few risks all patients should understand before committing. During your personalized consultation with our experienced Pennsylvania tummy tuck surgeon, you will be presented with all of the pertinent information.

Risks may include:

  • Poor healing
  • Infection
  • Blood loss
  • Scarring

Keep in mind that our doctor and staff work hard to ensure patients are guarded by the highest safety standards possible. Dr. Louton will answer all of your questions about the benefits and risks, and help you decide if a tummy tuck is right for you. If we feel your risk level is elevated due to health status or other factors, we will recommend an alternative treatment.

Will a tummy tuck take care of my stretch marks?

While the skin tightening that occurs during a tummy tuck can minimize the look of stretch marks, the tummy tuck procedure is not a solution to these skin imperfections.
