Blair Plastic Surgery, The Offices of Dr. Robert Louton

Serving Hollidaysburg, State College, Johnstown, DuBois, and Nearby Pennsylvania

We make hundreds, maybe even thousands of facial expressions each day. Some of these expressions can leave a lasting impression on the facial skin as time goes by. If you are concerned about wrinkling or worry lines in the forehead area, Dr. Robert Louton may recommend a brow lift procedure, also known as an endoscopic forehead lift.

What Is A Brow Lift?

A brow lift can minimize wrinkling and deep creases by lifting the skin up and tightening it around the scalp. The contour of your eyebrows is raised in the process, and sagging upper eyelid skin is removed, creating a rejuvenated, more engaged facial expression. The result is a softer, more refined forehead appearance.

Candidates For A Brow Lift Procedure

The brow lift procedure is for people who want to see improvement in the forehead area but can also help "open" the eye area by lifting the eyebrows. It is often a great choice for men and women who feel skin changes in the forehead are contributing to the appearance of a tired or angry expression.

If you would like a more comprehensive solution to the facial signs of aging, you may want to consider what a facelift can do for you.

How Is A Brow Lift Performed?

Dr. Louton performs the brow lift procedure endoscopically, which means a small camera called an endoscope is used. This allows Dr. Louton to make tiny incisions and access underlying tissue without removing the superficial skin. After making incisions in the hairline, Dr. Louton will manipulate the tissue to create a more appealing look. He will tighten up the forehead muscles and skin so deep expression lines disappear.

An upper lid blepharoplasty is often included in the brow lift procedure to complete the rejuvenation effect.

Brow Lift Recovery

Brow lift patients can expect some bruising and swelling that should clear within a few weeks. Bed rest is important after a brow lift to give the area time to heal. Reading can be resumed in two to three days, and most patients are cleared for return to work within seven to ten days. Patients should avoid contact lenses for about two weeks. Dr. Louton will recommend that you avoid strenuous activity and alcohol for about three weeks.
